Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Chairperson Sheikh Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has extended an invitation to Nobel laureate and interim chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus to attend the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2025. The summit is scheduled to take place in Dubai from February 11 to 13 this year.

The invitation was made during a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum's annual gathering in Davos, Switzerland, on Wednesday, January 22. The announcement was made through a press release issued by the Chief Advisor's Office.

During the meeting, Sheikh Latifa encouraged Dr. Yunus to bring three young advisors from the interim government to the summit. This request aims to provide them with a platform to articulate their leadership roles in the July uprising against the deposed Sheikh Hasina government. The July uprising marked a pivotal moment, leading to a significant shift in Bangladesh’s political landscape.

The discussion between the two leaders focused on the critical role of youth in shaping global leadership and creating opportunities for sustainable change. Sheikh Latifa emphasized the importance of cross-cultural dialogue and innovation in addressing complex governance challenges. She expressed her belief in the transformative potential of young leaders in driving progressive agendas across the globe.

Dr. Yunus expressed his gratitude for the invitation and highlighted the aspirations of the interim government to rebuild Bangladesh with a renewed vision. He stated that the participation of young leaders in platforms like the WGS not only amplifies their voices but also offers insights into transformative movements that resonate beyond national boundaries.

Both parties underscored the importance of global partnerships in addressing modern challenges, particularly those related to governance, youth engagement, and social justice. They agreed on the necessity of fostering inclusive environments where young leaders can thrive and actively contribute to international dialogue.

The upcoming World Governments Summit will serve as a platform to showcase innovative governance practices and collaborative solutions to pressing global issues. Dr. Yunus and the interim advisors’ participation is expected to draw international attention, shedding light on their leadership in the July uprising and the broader efforts to establish a new direction for Bangladesh.

The invitation and subsequent discussions highlight Dubai’s commitment to fostering global conversations on governance, youth empowerment, and innovation.
