The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has announced that more than 1.5 million taxpayers have already filed their income tax returns online for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. Additionally, over 1.9 million taxpayers have completed their e-return registrations, marking a significant milestone in the country's digital tax transformation. The NBR shared this update in a press release on Tuesday, March 18.
The NBR highlighted that individual taxpayers can now easily and quickly file their income tax returns through the NBR website. They can also download and print copies of submitted returns, acknowledgment receipts, income tax certificates, and TIN certificates. Furthermore, taxpayers are benefiting from convenient payment options, including internet banking, card payments (debit/credit cards), and mobile banking, along with seamless tax adjustment facilities.
In its efforts to improve the e-return system, the NBR has already organized workshops titled "Identifying Issues and Determining Solutions for the E-Return System" to gather feedback from stakeholders. The NBR believes that valuable insights and suggestions from taxpayers will help make the e-return system more user-friendly, efficient, and robust.
The NBR expressed its gratitude to the esteemed taxpayers who have embraced online tax filing and encouraged others to utilize the digital services for submitting returns and obtaining tax certificates. This initiative aims to streamline the tax process, reduce paperwork, and enhance overall taxpayer satisfaction.
With the growing adoption of digital tax services, the NBR continues to innovate and upgrade its systems, ensuring a smoother and more accessible experience for all taxpayers in Bangladesh.
