Saudi Arabia is recruiting a record number of workers from Bangladesh, hiring between 4,000 and 6,000 workers every day. According to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Middle Eastern nation recruited 83,000 Bangladeshi workers in the past month alone, marking the highest monthly recruitment record by any country from a single nation.

The surge in recruitment comes as Saudi Arabia undertakes ambitious mega projects in line with its Vision 2030 agenda. These large-scale initiatives have created an unprecedented demand for labor across multiple sectors.

A report by Gulf News highlighted that Saudi Arabia is preparing for several high-profile events, including the FIFA World Cup in 2034 and the Riyadh Expo in 2030. The kingdom is also investing heavily in infrastructure projects such as aviation, railways, and sports stadiums. To expedite these projects, Saudi Arabia requires a diverse and robust labor force, a significant portion of which is being supplied by Bangladesh.

Saudi Arabia’s growing reliance on Bangladeshi workers has been accompanied by gestures of goodwill. Recently, Riyadh donated 372 tons of meat to Bangladesh as a token of friendship. This donation, according to a Bangladeshi foreign ministry official, will be distributed across 64 districts in 95 regions to benefit orphans, religious institutions, and underprivileged communities.

Bangladesh views its relationship with Saudi Arabia as a key priority and seeks to strengthen ties further. Labor exportation is a vital component of Bangladesh’s economy, and the government remains committed to maintaining and enhancing this relationship. Officials in Dhaka are optimistic that the current recruitment trend will continue, ensuring stable employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers in Saudi Arabia.
