In response to the tragic death of Afsana Rachi, a marketing student at Jahangirnagar University (JU), the university administration has suspended four officials and announced the suspension of all classes and exams for a day. The incident occurred when a battery-operated rickshaw collided with the student, leading to her untimely death.

Acting Registrar Azizur Rahman confirmed the suspensions late Wednesday night (November 20). Those suspended include Deputy Registrar Abdur Rahman Babul, Security Officer Russel Mia, Assistant Supervisor Abdus Salam, and Duty Guard Mansur Rahman Pramanik.

Earlier in the day, the university issued a notice declaring a day of mourning. According to the statement signed by the acting registrar, all classes and exams will remain suspended, and the university flag will fly at half-mast. Additionally, bus services on all university routes will be halted for the day.

Following the incident, students staged a protest in front of the Vice-Chancellor's residence, demanding justice and the removal of those responsible. The protesters dispersed after the administration assured them of actions to meet their demands, including the suspension of the implicated individuals.
