Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has urged all political parties and citizens to unite for the survival of the nation, putting aside ideological differences. He emphasized the critical need to counteract both domestic and international efforts to undermine the country’s sovereignty and the gains of the recent uprising.

Speaking on Wednesday during a meeting with leaders from various political parties, including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, at the Foreign Service Academy, Dr. Yunus highlighted the urgency of the situation, calling it a question of national existence.

Threats to the Achievements of the Uprising

Dr. Yunus expressed concern that certain groups, dissatisfied with the achievements of the people’s uprising, are attempting to reverse the progress made. He pointed out that these efforts are not limited to domestic opposition but have garnered international support from powerful nations.

"The independence and freedom achieved through the uprising may not be acceptable to some. Attempts are being made to suppress it, distort the truth, and create a false narrative that undermines our accomplishments," said the Chief Advisor. He further explained that some are trying to revert to the previous system, claiming it was better, while covertly working to re-establish it.

Unity Against False Narratives

Dr. Yunus stressed that unity is essential to debunk the false narratives being propagated:
"They are leveraging their power, wealth, and influence to create doubts among people with fabricated stories. To preserve the reality and uphold the achievements of our uprising, we must stand united as a nation, beyond political ideologies."

He warned that the forces attempting to erase the nation’s progress are well-organized and capable of misleading the public, making national solidarity imperative.

Meeting with Political Leaders

The meeting, which began at 4 PM, saw participation from a broad spectrum of political leaders. BNP’s delegation was led by Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and included senior leaders such as Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Professor Dr. A.Z.M Zahid Hossain.

Jamaat-e-Islami was represented by its Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar, and other senior leaders. Leaders from various other parties, including Nagorik Oikya’s Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Biplobi Workers Party’s Saiful Haque, Ganosamhati Andolan’s Zonayed Saki, and Gono Odhikar Parishad’s Nurul Haque Nur, were also present.

Broader Consultations for National Unity

The meeting with political leaders was part of a series of consultations led by the Chief Advisor to foster national unity amid the current crisis. On Tuesday evening, Dr. Yunus held discussions with leaders of the Discrimination-Free Student Movement. On Thursday, he is scheduled to meet with leaders from various religious communities.

Presidential Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam informed journalists in a press conference that these discussions aim to build a collective understanding and response to the challenges facing the nation.

Call for Action

Dr. Yunus concluded his address by urging political leaders and citizens to rise above partisan differences for the greater good of the nation:
"The challenges we face are not just political but existential. Protecting our sovereignty requires us to unite as one nation, ensuring that the dreams of an independent and prosperous Bangladesh are not erased or distorted."

This call for unity marks a pivotal moment in the nation's history, urging all stakeholders to collaborate in safeguarding the hard-won freedom and progress of Bangladesh.
