A collision involving three vehicles, including two buses and a road safety patrol vehicle, occurred on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway, leaving at least 10 passengers injured.
The incident took place at around 9 AM on Saturday (February 15) in the Nimtala area of Munshiganj. The accident resulted in a temporary halt of traffic for about half an hour, causing a three-kilometer-long congestion on the expressway.
Eyewitnesses reported that a Suravi Paribahan bus rear-ended a Green Dhaka Paribahan bus traveling towards Mawa. The impact caused the Green Dhaka bus to lose control and collide with a patrol vehicle engaged in road maintenance work. Six to seven passengers of the Suravi Paribahan bus sustained injuries and were given local medical treatment.
Officer-in-Charge Abdul Kader Jilani of Hasara Highway Police Station stated that the Suravi Paribahan bus lost control and struck the Green Dhaka bus, which was stationary in front of the toll plaza at Dhaleshwari. The Green Dhaka bus then crashed into a vehicle belonging to the Roads and Highways Department. The injured passengers received preliminary medical attention at various hospitals and were later released.
Following the accident, traffic movement resumed after 30 minutes. The vehicles involved have been seized and taken to the police station. Legal actions against those responsible are currently in process.
