A drone attack struck near the entrance of a hotel in Israel’s southern resort city of Eilat on Thursday evening, according to reports. The unmanned aerial vehicle crashed at the front gate of the hotel, prompting an immediate response from Israeli security forces and emergency medical teams who rushed to the site.

The Times of Israel reported that preliminary assessments suggest the drone strike may have been carried out by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. Eilat, Israel’s southernmost city, is located on the Red Sea and is a well-known tourist destination. The incident has raised concerns over the expanding range of regional actors involved in attacks on Israeli territory.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has intensified as relentless Israeli air and drone strikes continue to devastate the enclave. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 65,141 people have been killed since the onset of the Israeli offensive, with 79 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours alone. An additional 228 people were reported injured during the same period.

The ministry noted that many bodies remain trapped under rubble and scattered on the streets, as rescue workers struggle to reach them due to the ongoing bombardments and collapsed infrastructure. The grim situation highlights the scale of destruction in Gaza, where emergency services are overwhelmed and humanitarian access remains severely restricted.

In addition to airstrikes, the ministry reported that Israeli forces have shot and killed nine Palestinians in the past 24 hours during incidents linked to aid distribution. At least 33 others were wounded as crowds gathered in search of food and basic necessities. Since May 27, the number of Palestinians killed in such aid-related shootings has risen to 2,513, with more than 18,414 others injured.

The crisis of hunger and malnutrition has also deepened. Four more Palestinians, including one child, were confirmed dead in the past day due to starvation and related conditions. Since October, 435 Palestinians have died from hunger, among them 147 children. Aid organizations and humanitarian agencies have repeatedly warned that famine is imminent in Gaza unless urgent international intervention ensures uninterrupted delivery of food, water, and medical supplies.

The situation has drawn global condemnation, with calls for both sides to halt escalations and allow humanitarian relief to reach civilians. However, diplomatic efforts remain stalled, while the casualty figures continue to rise sharply on the ground.

The attack in Eilat further underscores the widening scope of the conflict, linking the violence in Gaza to broader regional dynamics involving Yemen’s Houthis, who have in the past claimed responsibility for launching missiles and drones targeting Israeli territory. While Thursday’s incident did not result in reported casualties at the hotel, it has heightened fears that tourist hubs and southern regions of Israel could become more frequent targets.

As the war enters yet another deadly phase, the humanitarian toll on Gaza’s civilian population has reached catastrophic levels, with widespread destruction of homes, medical facilities, and essential infrastructure. The combination of airstrikes, ground assaults, and the blockade has left millions of Palestinians in desperate need of international assistance.

For now, both the drone strike in Eilat and the mounting civilian casualties in Gaza reflect the deepening crisis across the region, where violence and humanitarian suffering show little sign of abating.
