Dhaka, February 24 – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has postponed its mass sit-in program scheduled for tomorrow in front of the Chief Adviser’s office. The demonstration was intended to demand the unconditional release of the party’s Assistant Secretary General, ATM Azharul Islam.
The announcement was confirmed on Monday in a statement by the party’s Secretary General and former Member of Parliament, Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar. He stated that in light of the overall national situation, the party has decided to temporarily suspend the planned sit-in scheduled for February 25.
Additionally, in response to requests from senior Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, party Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has also agreed to temporarily defer his voluntary arrest program.
Jamaat-e-Islami leaders emphasized that the decision was made after careful consideration of the current political climate and the interests of their supporters. The party will continue to monitor developments and determine future courses of action accordingly.
This move is seen as a strategic adjustment in response to prevailing circumstances, and Jamaat-e-Islami remains committed to its demands while prioritizing the safety and security of its members and activists.
