Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Apurba Jahangir, clarified that Education Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud’s recent remarks regarding the upcoming elections reflect his personal opinion, not the official stance of the government.
Speaking at a press briefing on Sunday evening at the Foreign Service Academy auditorium in the capital, Apurba Jahangir addressed queries about the adviser's statement from the previous day. He emphasized that Wahiduddin Mahmud’s comments were made in a personal capacity and do not represent any formal announcement from the Chief Adviser. The press briefing was also attended by Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Md. Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Mazumder.
On Saturday, Wahiduddin Mahmud stated, “I believe we will witness a politically elected government next year. This is my personal opinion, as I cannot predict what will happen.”
In response, Apurba Jahangir reiterated that no announcement regarding the elections has yet come from the Chief Adviser. When pressed on when such a declaration might be expected, he remarked, “When the announcement is made, you will be the first to know.”
