In a significant administrative reshuffle, 18 senior police officers, including the chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Additional IGP Md. Matiur Rahman Sheikh, have been transferred to new positions. The orders were issued on Tuesday (March 4) by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Public Security Division) following directives from the President.
The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Md. Mahbubur Rahman, outlines the new postings for officers of the BCS (Police) cadre. Key appointments include new Superintendents of Police (SP) for Cox’s Bazar, Nilphamari, Jashore, and Sunamganj districts, as well as a new Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for the Mymensingh Range.
The former SPs of Cox’s Bazar, Nilphamari, Jashore, and Sunamganj have been made Officers on Special Duty (OSD) and directed to report to the Police Headquarters.
Notable Transfers Include:
CID Chief and Additional IGP Md. Matiur Rahman Sheikh transferred to Police Headquarters.
Principal of Sardah Police Academy, Additional IGP Md. Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, moved to Police Headquarters.
Counter-Terrorism Unit Chief, Additional IGP Khondker Rafiqul Islam, reassigned to Police Headquarters.
DIG of Highway Police, Rezaul Karim, posted to Police Headquarters.
DIG of Police Headquarters, Dr. Shoeb Reaz Alam, transferred to Sardah Police Academy.
DIG of Mymensingh Range, Ashraful Rahman, reassigned to Police Headquarters.
DIG of Police Headquarters, Ataul Kibria, posted to Mymensingh Range.
DIG of Industrial Police, Md. Ashrafuzzaman, transferred to Rangpur Police Training Center.
DIG of CID, Harun Ur Rashid Hazari, reassigned to Industrial Police.
DIG of Sardah Police Academy, Rokhfar Sultana Khanam, posted to Highway Police.

Saifuddin Shahin, former Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, appointed as SP of Cox’s Bazar.
Tofail Ahmed, former SP of Khulna Range Office, posted as SP of Sunamganj.
Rawnak Jahan, former DC of Uttara Division in DMP, appointed as SP of Jashore.
Abul Fajl Mohammad Tariq Hossain Khan, recently promoted to DC in Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, posted as SP of Nilphamari.
Zia Uddin Ahmed, former SP at Police Headquarters, reassigned to the Police Directorate.
The former SPs of Sunamganj, Cox’s Bazar, and Nilphamari have also been attached to the Police Directorate.
The reshuffle, issued in the public interest, is effective immediately. These changes aim to enhance efficiency and strengthen law enforcement across various regions and units.
