Awards presented to outstanding SME and agriculture-based entrepreneurs from across the country during national recognition event in Dhaka
Dhaka, June 28 — On the occasion of World Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Day, Prime Bank PLC recognized seven distinguished entrepreneurs from various regions of Bangladesh. The awards were presented at a special entrepreneur conference and recognition ceremony held at a hotel in Dhaka on Saturday.
The event, attended by over a hundred entrepreneurs from different parts of the country, reaffirmed Prime Bank’s continued commitment to the development of entrepreneurs and the broader MSME sector. From a pool of over 11,500 active loan recipients, the bank selected six SME entrepreneurs and one agriculture-based entrepreneur to receive the award.
The selection was based on multiple criteria including product diversity, annual revenue, number of employees, relationship with the bank, the gender of the entrepreneur, and the nature of the business — whether in manufacturing, services, or trade.
The ceremony's chief guest was Naushad Mostafa, Director of SME and Special Programs Department (SMESPD) at Bangladesh Bank. Md. Nazim Hasan Sattar, Deputy Managing Director of SME Foundation, delivered the keynote speech. Also present at the event were Hasan O. Rashid, CEO of Prime Bank, M. Nazim A. Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Director, and other senior officials of the bank.
In his remarks, Prime Bank CEO Hasan O. Rashid emphasized the central role of the SME sector in Bangladesh’s economic framework. He noted that SMEs are vital in generating employment, contributing to rural development, and building a self-reliant economy. He reiterated that Prime Bank has been actively working to support and finance the MSME sector for an extended period and continues to serve entrepreneurs through more than 150 branches and sub-branches across the country.
He expressed hope that this form of recognition would inspire the awarded entrepreneurs to strive even further, contributing to the sustainable development of the nation.
The event concluded with renewed pledges from Prime Bank to uphold and expand its efforts in strengthening the MSME ecosystem in Bangladesh.
