The “Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025” is currently underway at Hotel InterContinental in Dhaka, drawing the attention of global business leaders and investors. On Wednesday, the third day of the four-day summit, Nobel Laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus joined the event as a special guest and participated in key sessions focused on innovation and international collaboration.

Dr. Yunus officially inaugurated the summit and also presided over the launch of the trial phase of Starlink’s satellite-based internet services in Bangladesh. Starlink, a space-based internet provider backed by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, is introducing advanced global-standard connectivity solutions to the country. Technology experts believe this initiative will significantly improve internet access and quality in Bangladesh, particularly in underserved areas.

In his address during one of the summit's sessions, Dr. Yunus presented an overview of various measures adopted by the Bangladeshi government to attract foreign investment. He highlighted reforms and policy initiatives that are aimed at creating a more investor-friendly environment and emphasized the country’s readiness to support international businesses looking to enter or expand in the region.

The Bangladesh Investment Summit has already seen keen interest from several countries during its initial two days. Business delegations from China, South Korea, Switzerland, and the United States have expressed enthusiasm in exploring diverse sectors for potential investment. Additionally, multiple international banks have pledged financial support to aid Bangladesh’s economic growth, including commitments for developmental loans.

The government, on its part, has announced a series of steps to streamline the administrative process for investors and reform energy policies to ensure sustainable and cost-effective resource allocation. These initiatives are designed to accelerate the pace of foreign direct investment and foster long-term economic partnerships.

On the third day of the summit, Dr. Yunus also emphasized the strategic advantages of relocating production facilities to Bangladesh. He elaborated on the cost-effectiveness, skilled labor force, and growing infrastructure that make the country a compelling destination for manufacturing and export-based industries. Dr. Yunus assured prospective investors of full cooperation from relevant authorities to facilitate smooth business operations in the country.

As the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 progresses, the government and private sector aim to strengthen economic ties with global stakeholders, drive innovation, and pave the way for sustainable development in alignment with international standards.
