The Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Shafiqul Alam, has dismissed as fake a social media post circulating about the appointment of eight new advisers. On Wednesday afternoon, around 4:45 PM, Alam took to his Facebook account to label the purported "approval letter" as "false and fabricated."
The fake document, which was attributed to the Cabinet Division, claimed that eight individuals had been approved for appointment as advisers to the interim government. However, the Chief Adviser’s Office, through its verified Facebook page "CA Press Wing Facts," confirmed that no such approval letter had been issued by the Cabinet Division. The post urged the public not to be misled by the misinformation.
Earlier, an unsigned approval letter dated March 8, 2025, had gone viral on Facebook, stating that eight individuals had been appointed as advisers to the interim government and were "approved for oath-taking." The document, which lacked any signatures, falsely included the name of Cabinet Division Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid.
The interim government, led by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, was sworn in on August 8 of last year. Currently, the council has 23 members. The most recent appointment was on March 5, when C.R. Abrar, a retired professor of International Relations at Dhaka University and a human rights activist, was appointed as the Education Adviser.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to transparency and urged the public to rely on verified sources for accurate information.
