A former officer of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been accused of repeatedly raping a woman by threatening to kill her husband in a crossfire. The accused officer, identified as Alep, is now the subject of widespread condemnation on social media, with many demanding his prosecution.
The allegations surfaced after a Facebook post by Maudud Sujan, which was later shared by Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary to the chief adviser. According to the post, the victim’s husband, who had been abducted, revealed that his wife was forced to break her fast on the holy night of Shab-e-Qadr to endure sexual violence.
The post further alleges that Alep raped the woman multiple times under the constant threat of executing her husband in a staged crossfire. The mental trauma suffered by the victim ultimately led to her deteriorating health, and she passed away a few days later.
Naming the accused officer, the post stated, “The rapist is a senior RAB official, named Alep. When the devastated husband kept calling him repeatedly, Alep allegedly responded by saying that such treatment of the wives of detainees is an unwritten norm.”
Demanding justice, Maudud Sujan wrote, “How low can a person sink to treat a detainee’s wife this way while having his own mother, wife, and daughter at home? Alep must be held accountable for his heinous actions.”
In a follow-up post, Sujan provided further details about Alep’s past, revealing that the accused had struggled financially during his studies and was supported by well-wishers. He also claimed to have spoken with a police superintendent who had worked with Alep and corroborated that Alep was notorious for such misconduct.
The post additionally linked Alep to Major General Ziaul, who is currently under arrest. It suggested that Alep carried out such acts under Ziaul’s influence and was rewarded with various honors for his actions.
Furthermore, the post mentioned recent allegations of brutal abuse of six women by RAB personnel in Chattogram under the current administration. The author urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and reveal the truth to the public.
