No government official should feel compelled to work under intimidation or coercion, stated Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, emphasizing that the current administration does not operate on threats or fear. He urged all district commissioners (DCs) to work freely and independently in their respective jurisdictions.

Dr. Yunus made these remarks on Sunday, February 16, at the inauguration ceremony of the three-day District Commissioner Conference held at the Shapla Hall of the Chief Adviser's Office. Addressing the gathering, he encouraged the DCs to pursue excellence through innovation and creativity in their districts.

Speaking to the DCs, Dr. Yunus highlighted the importance of their autonomy in carrying out duties that align with legal and national interests. He stressed that every commissioner should focus on what is necessary for the country while adhering to the law. Furthermore, he instructed the DCs to remain vigilant in maintaining law and order across their districts. In addition, he directed them to take necessary measures to regulate the prices of essential commodities in the market to ensure economic stability at the grassroots level.

The Chief Adviser also addressed the gap between policy formulation and its implementation at the local level. He remarked that although policies are made, they often do not reach the rural population effectively. He urged the officials to bridge this gap so that the government's decisions and initiatives are successfully executed at the grassroots level. He noted that unnecessary harassment of people by the authorities must stop, as governance should not be synonymous with public oppression. Instead, he emphasized that the role of the government should be to ensure that citizens receive their rights and services without difficulty.

Earlier in the day, at 10:30 AM, Dr. Yunus formally inaugurated the three-day District Commissioner Conference at Shapla Hall in his office. The conference, which began on February 16, will conclude on February 18, providing a platform for district officials to discuss governance strategies, challenges, and improvements in public service delivery.
