The commencement date for this year’s Hajj flights has been officially announced. Hajj flights for Bangladeshi pilgrims will start on April 29 and continue until May 31.
The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon during a meeting on efficient Hajj management, held at the Tourism Building in Agargaon, Dhaka. The meeting was presided over by Nasreen Jahan, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
According to a press release issued by the ministry, a total of 87,100 Bangladeshi pilgrims will travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj this year. The national carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, will transport 50 percent of the pilgrims, totaling 43,550 passengers. The remaining half will be carried by Saudia Airlines and Flynas.
The press release also stated that the airfare for each pilgrim has been set at BDT 167,820 for this year’s Hajj flights.
During the meeting, discussions covered various aspects of flight scheduling, the registration process for Bangladeshi pilgrims residing abroad, post-flight passenger management, and other logistical concerns. Officials also reviewed luggage handling procedures and made necessary decisions to ensure smooth transportation services for all Hajj pilgrims.
