Dhaka, Monday — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet received any information from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) regarding the corruption case against Saima Wazed Putul, the daughter of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This was disclosed by Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, Director General of the Public Diplomacy Wing and spokesperson for the ministry, during the weekly media briefing held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Responding to questions from reporters, Rafiqul Alam stated, “We have not received any documentation or details from the ACC concerning Saima Wazed Putul’s corruption case. Until such information is formally communicated to us, it would not be appropriate to make any premature statements on the matter.”

The ACC reportedly uncovered evidence of Saima Wazed Putul holding Canadian citizenship, raising questions about her legal status and alleged involvement in corruption. However, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson reiterated that no related documents have been forwarded to the ministry for review.

“Our ministry has no record or documents concerning this matter at this time,” Alam added. “Speculating or making assumptions without official evidence is not advisable in this situation.”

The case has garnered significant public and media attention due to Saima Wazed Putul’s familial ties to Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. As investigations continue, the ministry maintains its stance of refraining from comments until it has access to verified information from the relevant authorities.
