Imon Rahman, a staff reporter at the national daily Jugantor, has been awarded the ‘Integrated Road Safety Media Fellowship’ by the Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC). The confirmation came through an official letter signed by A H M Bazlur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of BNNRC, on Saturday.
Imon Rahman completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Economics from Jahangirnagar University. He hails from Dwariapur village in the Sreepur upazila of Magura district. His journey in journalism began during his university years, where he served as the founding general secretary of the Jahangirnagar University Press Club. Over the years, he has gained professional experience working in the crime reporting sections of several national newspapers including Kaler Kantho, Manab Kantha, Desh Rupantar, and Ajker Patrika. In his career, he has produced numerous reports on crime, road safety, and traffic accidents.
Established in 2000, BNNRC is a media and digital development organization that focuses on addressing the evolving challenges and opportunities in the field of media and digital transformation in Bangladesh. The organization works on knowledge-driven media and digital development initiatives at local, national, and international levels.
BNNRC holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and has been a recipient and champion of the UN World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Awards in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023.
