The uniforms of police, RAB (Rapid Action Battalion), and Ansar members are set to undergo changes. A final decision regarding the new uniforms was made during a meeting of the Law and Order Advisory Committee on Monday, January 20.
According to sources, a representative team from the police, Ansar, and RAB consisting of 18 individuals attended the meeting, from which the new uniforms will be selected.
Previously, on August 11, former Interim Government Home Affairs Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) Md. Shakhawat Hossain had announced that the police uniform and logo would be changed. He noted that many officers had expressed dissatisfaction with the current uniform, and as a result, steps would be taken to introduce new attire.
Hossain emphasized that these changes would be discussed and finalized in a cabinet meeting. He also proposed the creation of a police commission to ensure that law enforcement is not influenced by political forces and to prevent the misuse of the police for political purposes. The formation of such a commission, under which the police would operate independently, was deemed essential for the reformation of the force.
The changes in uniforms reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize and improve law enforcement agencies, ensuring that they can perform their duties with enhanced professionalism and neutrality.
