Jhenaidah, January 29 – BNP’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, has accused government-appointed officials of engaging in conspiracies against the country. Speaking at a workshop on the "31-Point Reform Plan and Public Engagement" held at the Dream Valley Auditorium in Jhenaidah, he claimed that those recruited based on political considerations were actively plotting against the nation. He assured that if BNP assumes power, appointments and promotions would be strictly merit-based.

Tarique Rahman asserted that remnants of authoritarian rule were still active and conspiring against democracy. He emphasized that BNP, if elected, would undertake significant reforms to ensure transparency and fairness in state recruitment. He criticized the long-standing rule of the Awami League, alleging that it had eroded public trust in political parties.

According to him, one of the primary responsibilities of BNP activists is to restore the people’s confidence in the political process. He stated that the country is eagerly waiting for a free and fair election and that the public is prepared to bring BNP to power. However, he cautioned that the journey to victory in the next election would not be easy, urging party members to work diligently to gain public trust.

Tarique Rahman further outlined BNP’s vision for governance, promising that if the party formed the government, appointments at various levels of the state structure would be based solely on qualifications. He alleged that corrupt officials, loyal to the ruling party, had looted the banking sector and siphoned off funds abroad. He pledged that a BNP-led government would reform the banking system to ensure a stable and robust economy.

He also criticized the existing syndicate system, claiming that monopolies had been established in various sectors under the current administration. To dismantle these monopolies, he proposed introducing a "family card" system that would provide essential commodities to citizens through domestic products.

Speaking on past political struggles, Tarique Rahman declared that those who were martyred or injured in the July mass uprising against the government’s alleged authoritarian rule would be honored with state recognition if BNP came to power. He also vowed to provide both party-based and governmental support to the families of those subjected to enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and political persecution over the past 16 years. Additionally, government establishments in the hometowns of the July uprising’s martyrs would be renamed in their memory.

Addressing party workers, he emphasized the importance of reaching out to the people with BNP’s 31-point reform plan. He claimed that this blueprint had been developed after extensive discussions with various sections of society and expressed confidence that implementing these measures would lead to real national development and prosperity. He reiterated that the party’s ultimate goal was to serve the people, whom he described as having endured unbearable repression over the past 15 years.

Regarding the upcoming elections, Tarique Rahman stressed that BNP remains committed to ensuring a free and credible electoral process. He stated that the entire nation is awaiting an election that reflects the people's will and expressed confidence that BNP is the preferred choice for forming the next government. However, he warned that electoral success depends on gaining public trust, urging all party members to intensify their engagement with the masses.

The workshop, organized by BNP’s Central Training Affairs Committee, began at 10:00 AM and featured opening remarks by BNP’s Khulna divisional assistant organizational secretary, Jayanta Kumar Kundu. The event concluded with a virtual address by Professor Nargis Begum.

Participants included BNP leaders from district, upazila, thana, and municipal levels, as well as affiliated organizations. Before delivering his speech, Tarique Rahman engaged in a question-and-answer session with party activists, addressing various queries regarding the 31-point reform agenda.
