A total of 10 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in the capital Dhaka and Chattogram to ensure law and order remain under control. This announcement was made by the BGB in a press release on Tuesday, November 26.

According to the release, 4 platoons of BGB have been stationed in key areas of Dhaka, including Shahbagh, the Fisheries Building, and the Intercontinental Hotel, while 6 platoons have been deployed in Chattogram. The deployment is a precautionary measure to maintain order amid rising protests.

The protests erupted following the arrest of the excommunicated leader of the ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, who was apprehended by the Detective Branch of police at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday afternoon, November 25, while he was en route to Chattogram.

On Tuesday, November 26, Chinmoy Krishna Das was brought before the Chattogram Metropolitan Court-6, where the judge rejected his bail application in the treason case and ordered him to be sent to jail.

In response to the protests against his arrest, which have spread across Dhaka, Chattogram, and several other districts, BGB forces were deployed as a preventive measure to avoid any untoward incidents and maintain public order.
