For the first time, 14 prominent individuals, including former ministers, advisors, a retired judge, and a former secretary, are set to appear before the International Crimes Tribunal on Monday, November 18. They stand accused of involvement in crimes against humanity linked to the atrocities of July and August during a critical period in Bangladesh’s history.

The accused include former Law Minister Anisul Huq, Faruk Khan, Dipu Moni, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, Junaid Ahmed Palak, former Prime Minister’s Advisors Salman F. Rahman and Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Abdur Razzak, Shajahan Khan, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Golam Dastagir Gazi, retired Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, and former Home Secretary Jahangir Alam.

This historic move follows an order issued on October 27 by a three-member judicial panel led by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mojumdar, Chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal. Other panel members include Justice Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

The tribunal proceedings were initiated on October 17 with arrest warrants issued against 46 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, under accusations of crimes against humanity.
