The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has decided to enlist 3,206 newly appointed teachers and staff from various private schools and colleges under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme. The list includes 2,579 teachers from schools and 627 from colleges. Additionally, 2,842 individuals will receive higher pay grades, and 130 schoolteachers will be granted B.Ed scales. These decisions were made during the MPO Committee's January meeting held on Sunday, January 12, chaired by Professor Dr. AQM Shafiul Azam, the acting Director General of the Directorate. The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry of Education, nine regional directors, deputy directors, senior system analysts, and other relevant authorities.
Of the 3,206 schoolteachers and staff, the breakdown across regions is as follows: Barishal 130, Chattogram 127, Cumilla 148, Dhaka 726, Khulna 377, Mymensingh 164, Rajshahi 668, Rangpur 175, and Sylhet 64. Meanwhile, for the 627 college staff included, the distribution is: Barishal 45, Chattogram 43, Cumilla 52, Dhaka 101, Khulna 77, Mymensingh 67, Rajshahi 76, Rangpur 110, and Sylhet 56.
The committee also approved higher pay grades for 2,842 teachers and staff from private institutions. This includes 2,359 individuals from schools and 483 from colleges. Among the school recipients, the regional allocations are: Barishal 331, Chattogram 123, Cumilla 97, Dhaka 502, Khulna 425, Mymensingh 149, Rajshahi 469, Rangpur 173, and Sylhet 90. In colleges, the allocations are: Barishal 39, Chattogram 17, Cumilla 41, Dhaka 48, Khulna 26, Mymensingh 9, Rajshahi 247, Rangpur 39, and Sylhet 17.
A total of 130 schoolteachers will receive B.Ed scales, with the regional breakdown as follows: Barishal 6, Chattogram 5, Cumilla 9, Dhaka 64, Khulna 15, Mymensingh 5, Rajshahi 14, Rangpur 11, and Sylhet 1.
Officials who participated in the meeting emphasized the importance of these decisions in addressing disparities in pay and benefits among private school and college staff.
