The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) welcomed 695 new recruits into its ranks on Tuesday, following the successful completion of a 23-week-long basic training program. Among the recruits, 649 are male and 46 are female, all of whom completed their training at the prestigious Border Guard Training Center and College (BGTCC) in Baitul Izzat, Satkania, Chattogram.
The graduation ceremony, held at the Bir Uttam Mojibur Rahman Parade Ground, began with a ceremonial march and oath-taking by the newly trained soldiers. Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs, attended as the chief guest. He administered the oath to the recruits, reviewed the passing-out parade, and received a formal salute from the new soldiers.
BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashraful Islam Siddique was also present at the event, along with senior military and civilian officials. The ceremony marked the culmination of the 102nd recruit batch’s training, which commenced on July 30 at the BGTCC.
During the training period, the recruits underwent rigorous physical, tactical, and theoretical exercises designed to prepare them for the demanding responsibilities of safeguarding the nation’s borders. The program emphasized discipline, resilience, and the values integral to the ethos of the BGB.
The inclusion of 46 female recruits in this batch signifies the ongoing commitment of BGB to promoting gender inclusivity within the force, reflecting a broader trend of empowering women in all sectors of national service.
The event concluded with an address by the chief guest, who congratulated the recruits on their successful completion of training and encouraged them to uphold the honor and integrity of the BGB in their future endeavors. Family members of the recruits were also in attendance, sharing the proud moment with their loved ones.
