In a recent media interaction, Mohammad Abdul Momen, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), publicly disclosed his asset details and income statement. The revelation took place on Sunday afternoon, where Momen discussed his earnings and assets during an exchange with journalists.

He confirmed that his asset declaration had been formally submitted to the ACC reform commission, and that other commissioners would also submit their declarations.

Momen shared details about his properties, stating that he owns a 1500-square-foot apartment in Basila, along with plans to acquire an additional 700 square feet. He also holds a 5-katha land in the Eastern American City of Purbachal with his wife. Additionally, he mentioned a 10-katha plot for which he is entitled to 1.25 katha, although he has not received possession since 2007. He also disclosed having deposited 75,000 Taka for a plot from Rajuk, which is still unresolved.

Regarding movable assets, the ACC chairman stated he owns 25 bookshelves filled with valuable books, both local and international, and about 500,000 Taka worth of furniture and electronics. He also holds savings bonds worth 30 million Taka with a 5-year term and 20 million Taka in short-term bonds. His General Provident Fund (GPF) balance amounts to 1.7 million Taka, which he has not withdrawn.

Momen explained his income sources as earnings from his job, proceeds from inherited property sales, and additional income from teaching, lectures, and writing. He also revealed that he had sold a plot of land in the Chattogram area, earning some cash from the transaction. Currently, he holds around 450,000 Taka in cash and bank accounts.

He further stated that his salary is on par with that of a Supreme Court Appellate Division judge and highlighted that he began earning since his student days. He reassured that, after his tenure, a proper account will be made of his financial growth or decline.

Momen expressed his belief in the government's role in fulfilling public expectations, noting that the government was formed by the people and not by any political group. He also reflected on the historic events of 5th August, underscoring their significance in the country's political history.

The chairman discussed the pervasiveness of corruption within the state and emphasized the importance of creating public awareness. He called on the media to play a key role in this process.

During the session, ACC Commissioner (Investigation) M. Ali Akbar Aziz emphasized that the commission is working with limited manpower but remains committed to impartial investigations. Commissioner (Inquiry) Brigadier General (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid expressed confidence in the professionalism of ACC officers, stating that they would not serve any individual’s interests.

Momen had previously committed to publishing his assets and income details within seven days of assuming office on December 11.
