Abu Hanif, a senior member and media coordinator of the General Rights Council, criticized the administration for failing to take action against the so-called "new devils." He argued that the government's inaction was undermining the legitimacy of the operation against corruption and extortion.

Hanif made these remarks after participating in an anti-extortion and anti-corruption rally in Narayanganj on Thursday, February 27. The rally, organized by the Hazaribagh branch of the General Rights Council, concluded with a brief gathering in front of the Shaheed Minar at the Arpara Police Station.

Hanif remarked that the current government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, had been involved in corruption and mismanagement for 15 years, seizing power and resources. He emphasized that, following the July 2024 people's uprising, the Awami League and its allies fled the country. According to Hanif, a new group is now engaged in similar extortion and corruption activities, particularly in markets and bus stations, a practice he claims to have learned from the actions of the Awami League before their departure.

He also spoke about the growing involvement of educated youth in politics, notably through the 2018 quota reform movement. Hanif stated that the General Rights Council has initiated a new political path in the country with the aim of empowering these young people to lead Bangladesh in the future. He highlighted that this new generation of youth is not afraid of fascists and will not allow the rise of any new fascist figures in the country.

Another member of the higher council of the General Rights Council and its office secretary, Shakil Ujjaman, also spoke during the rally. He mentioned that past corruption and extortion activities had ceased in Narayanganj, attributing this change to the efforts of student and worker movements that had overthrown Sheikh Hasina's regime in the past. Ujjaman described Hasina as one of the most authoritarian figures in the country’s history and warned current extortionists and corrupt individuals to beware of a similar fate if they do not change their ways.

Ujjaman also asserted that the General Rights Council is gaining popularity across the country, with a growing wave of support for the party's mission to build a corruption-free "Golden Bengal." He encouraged people to join the movement, with a call to action for all supporters to unite under the party’s emblem and work towards an egalitarian society.

The president of the Youth Rights Council, Monzur Morshed Mamun, also addressed the gathering, reflecting on the historical importance of the 2018 quota reform movement in the formation of the General Rights Council. Mamun noted that the party had faced immense opposition and threats from the ruling Awami League, yet it continued to fight against the government's misrule. He also referred to the July 2024 people's uprising, which he deemed a significant milestone in the movement's continued struggle for justice.

In his speech, Mamun urged the party’s members to prepare for the upcoming elections, with a special directive for the leadership in Arpara to be ready for electoral challenges. He emphasized that the General Rights Council's objective is to form a government in the future, led by the young, dynamic leaders who have joined the movement.

The event was organized and managed by several local leaders of the General Rights Council, including the General Secretary of the Narayanganj District Student Rights Council, Muhibullah, and Youth Rights Council’s Social Welfare Secretary, Ayub Laskar. Additional speeches were delivered by the president of the Narayanganj District General Rights Council, Nahid, and local leaders such as Ferdous Bhuiyan.

The rally and subsequent speeches underscored the growing momentum for the General Rights Council, with its leaders calling on the public to join their efforts in creating a fairer and more just Bangladesh, free from corruption and extortion.
