Despite major service disruptions caused by a power blackout and temporary suspension of metro rail operations, relevant secretaries failed to inform Muhammad Faujul Kabir Khan, the adviser on power, road transport, and railways. As a result, the adviser first learned about the incidents from social media platforms, rather than through official channels. Expressing strong dissatisfaction, Faujul Kabir Khan issued formal instructions to the ministries and concerned agencies, emphasizing that such negligence must not recur.

According to an official directive issued today, the adviser pointed out that on Saturday, metro rail services were temporarily disrupted, and the Khulna region experienced a blackout. However, in both cases, the responsible secretaries and agency heads refrained from updating the adviser. The directive clearly states that from now on, any incident affecting customer or passenger services must be reported immediately via television scrolls. Furthermore, once services are restored, the public must be promptly informed, along with an official apology.

The directive further stresses that customer and passenger services should not be treated as acts of generosity, but rather as fundamental obligations.

Sources from the Ministry of Road Transport revealed that the adviser, Faujul Kabir Khan, expressed deep dissatisfaction with the performance of responsible officers during the metro rail disruption and blackout incidents. He questioned why the public had not been informed in a timely manner and why no apology was issued for the inconvenience caused. He also demanded official explanations from those involved.

An official from the Ministry of Road Transport, speaking on the condition of anonymity, explained that following the metro rail’s electrical failure, the adviser contacted the Power Division and provided necessary instructions. The Power Division initially claimed that the issue stemmed from a technical fault in the metro rail system itself and not from any power supply problem. Yet, the metro rail authorities had failed to inform the adviser at the outset of the disruption.

Similarly, in the Khulna region blackout, responsible officials reportedly attempted to withhold information regarding the scale and cause of the disruption.

These lapses in communication and accountability prompted the adviser to reiterate the importance of swift, honest, and public disclosure during any disruption that affects citizens’ daily lives. The new directives aim to ensure transparency and maintain public trust by making it mandatory for all service disruptions and restorations to be broadcast immediately through mass media platforms.
