BNP Chairperson’s advisor Amanullah Aman has accused former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of committing murder, abduction, and money laundering during her prolonged tenure in power. He made these remarks today, Monday, January 20, after placing wreaths at the Shaheed Asad Memorial at Dhaka Medical College on the occasion of Shaheed Asad Day. The event was organized by the 1990s DUCSU leaders affiliated with the BNP.

During his speech, Amanullah Aman emphasized the importance of ensuring the people's right to vote, stating that democratic progress requires citizens to have the ability to freely exercise their voting rights. He accused Sheikh Hasina of abusing her extended stay in power to engage in acts that he claimed undermined justice and democracy in the country.

Responding to a journalist's question, Amanullah Aman mentioned that an interim government should outline a roadmap for elections, which would pave the way for a government truly representing the people. He expressed that both the BNP and the general public expect the current administration to facilitate free and fair elections promptly, as a delay in this process could hinder the nation's democratic aspirations.

Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, the younger brother of Shaheed Asad, also spoke at the event, urging the inclusion of Asad’s story in school textbooks. He described Asad as a symbol of freedom and called for the preservation of the Shaheed Asad Memorial and the Asad Gate area to honor his legacy. Members of Asad's family and representatives of various political organizations were present and laid wreaths to commemorate the day.
