Aminul Haq, BNP’s central sports affairs secretary and convener of Dhaka Metropolitan North, has accused a group of creating chaos and taking the law into their own hands under the guise of mob justice. He made these remarks during an iftar and prayer gathering organized by the Pallabi Thana BNP and Jubo Dal in the capital’s Pallabi area on Thursday afternoon (March 6).
Haq stated, “In the name of mob justice, they are unlawfully seizing control of the country’s legal system, creating anarchy and disorder. Unethical activities are being carried out in neighborhoods under the cover of darkness, leading to widespread chaos. This is something we never desire.”
He further emphasized that such disorder is gradually eroding public trust and confidence in the legal system, adding, “The responsibility for this lies with the interim government.”
Addressing the interim administration, Haq criticized their inability to maintain stability, saying, “The instability within state institutions is largely due to the government’s failure to control the situation through law, administration, and discipline.”
The BNP leader also highlighted the ongoing economic struggles faced by citizens, stating, “Even buying lemons has become a challenge for people. The Awami-backed syndicate still dominates the market for daily essentials. It is the interim government’s responsibility to dismantle this syndicate and bring commodity prices under control immediately.”
The event was attended by local BNP and Jubo Dal leaders, who echoed Haq’s concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation. The gathering concluded with prayers for the nation’s stability and prosperity.
Haq’s remarks come amid growing public frustration over rising commodity prices and perceived failures in governance, with the BNP continuing to pressure the interim government to address these issues effectively.
