The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizen Committee have announced a joint nationwide outreach program from January 6 to January 11 to gather public expectations regarding the publication of the July Revolution manifesto. The announcement was made on Saturday, January 4, during a press conference held at the central office of the National Citizen Committee in Banglamotor, Dhaka.
Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, stated during the press conference that the interim government had earlier pledged to release the manifesto of the July Revolution. Consequently, the movement refrained from releasing its own version of the manifesto on December 31. However, Abdullah expressed disappointment over the government's inaction and called for the manifesto to be published by January 15.
Abdullah emphasized the inclusivity of the July Revolution, which saw participation from all sections of society, and expressed the hope that the manifesto would reflect the aspirations of every social group. He underscored the importance of connecting with the public through outreach programs in educational institutions and among professionals to gather their input.
Nasiruddin Patwary, the convener of the National Citizen Committee, also spoke at the event, criticizing the government for its lack of visible efforts in drafting the manifesto. He warned that stricter programs would be announced if the government failed to act promptly.
Patwary further called for unity in drafting the manifesto, urging all stakeholders to come together to ensure it embodies the hopes and aspirations of the people. Both groups reiterated their commitment to engaging citizens across the country to build momentum for their demands.
