Day by day, Meherpur district is becoming a corridor for drug trafficking. Due to its proximity to the border, drug dealers and smugglers in this area are becoming more active than ever before. Several neighborhoods and localities in the region are gaining a notorious reputation as drug dealing hubs. However, law enforcement and intelligence surveillance are also intensifying their efforts to counter these criminal activities.
Since the establishment of the army camp in the area, the number of arrests related to drug offenses has significantly increased. In one such operation, acting on a tip-off received around 20:30 hours last night, the Meherpur Army Camp was informed that a known drug dealer named Sentu had received a new consignment of Yaba and was storing it at his residence in Bamundi Union, Gangni Upazila.

During the raid, Sentu was apprehended, and authorities recovered 230 pieces of Yaba, 102 Tapentadol tablets, and 5 mobile phones. The arrested individual, Sentu Mia, is a resident of Chharagi Para in Chatian village, under Mathmura Union of Gangni Upazila. He is the son of the late Chabgul Mondal.
The recovered drugs and mobile phones were later handed over to Gangni Police Station.
