The International Criminal Tribunal has issued arrest warrants against six police officers and two Awami League leaders. The decision was made on Monday following an application from the prosecution's investigation team.
The chief prosecutor of the tribunal, Mohammad Tajul Islam, confirmed the news but refrained from disclosing the identities of the eight individuals in order to facilitate their arrests.
He stated, "The arrest warrants have been issued today for eight individuals. Six of them are police officers, while the other two are leaders of the Awami League. Our investigation team has gathered direct evidence of their involvement."
Tajul Islam explained that the individuals against whom warrants have been issued were implicated after being directly linked to one of Dhaka city’s most sensational murder cases. The investigation team applied for the arrest warrants following confirmation of their involvement in the case. Four separate petitions were filed, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants for all eight individuals.
