Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has vowed to continue the fight for the Premier League title until the very end, despite a growing points gap between his team and Liverpool. The Gunners' pursuit of the championship has been made more challenging following a disappointing result against West Ham, coupled with Liverpool’s victory over Manchester City, which strengthened their dominance at the top of the table.
Arteta, however, is not willing to give up hope. Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming match against Nottingham Forest, the Spanish manager made it clear that his team would continue to fight until the final whistle. “We will fight for the title until our last breath,” Arteta stated defiantly. “You’ll have to go over my dead body to stop us.”
Arsenal’s loss to West Ham, combined with Liverpool's win, has put a significant amount of distance between them and the league leaders. The Reds, under Jurgen Klopp, now have a firmer grip on the top spot, while Arsenal remain determined to keep their title challenge alive. Arteta, however, emphasized that his side would not relinquish their ambitions easily.
The Gunners’ next test comes on Wednesday against Nottingham Forest, a match Arsenal fans are hopeful will help them recover from their recent setback. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s next challenge is against Newcastle United, and Arteta is keenly eyeing that match as a potential turning point. If Newcastle can manage to take points off Liverpool, Arsenal’s title hopes may be reignited, according to the manager.
Despite the setbacks, Arteta remains optimistic about his team’s recent performances. He pointed out that over the last 15 matches, Arsenal had won 10 and drawn five, matching Liverpool’s record. The Gunners have maintained a goal difference of +23, identical to Liverpool’s. “We’ve shown extraordinary consistency over the last three to four months. We need to keep up this momentum,” Arteta remarked. “Liverpool may be winning their matches, but our chances will come.”
Arteta also took a moment to reflect on the challenges his team has faced, including the loss of key players and the adversity of playing with 10 men for extended periods in several matches. Despite these difficulties, he praised his team’s resilience and the collective strength of the squad. "If someone had told you that at this stage, we’d have played five games with 10 men for over 30 minutes and lost multiple important players, they’d think we’d be mid-table. But we’re right at the top, and that’s a testament to our team spirit and determination,” he said.
The Arsenal manager remains determined that his team will continue to push for the Premier League title, stating that the race is far from over. “This fight will not stop. If anyone thinks we’ll give up, they are mistaken. As long as there’s a chance, we will fight until the very end. To make history, you have to do something special, and that’s what we’ll do,” Arteta affirmed.
The Premier League season has reached a fever pitch, and the rivalry between Liverpool and Arsenal is becoming increasingly intense. With both teams showing no signs of slowing down, the final outcome of this thrilling title race will unfold in the coming months. Only time will tell who will emerge as the Premier League champions at the end of the season.
