Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman held a courtesy meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Saturday (March 15). The meeting, described as cordial, took place during Guterres' four-day visit to Bangladesh at the invitation of the government.
According to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR), the two leaders exchanged pleasantries and discussed matters of mutual interest. The UN Secretary-General commended the professionalism and expertise of the Bangladesh Armed Forces in UN peacekeeping missions and expressed heartfelt gratitude for their significant contributions to global peacekeeping efforts.
Guterres arrived in Dhaka on Thursday for a four-day visit. On Friday, he visited Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar, where he joined the refugees for an Iftar meal. Earlier on Saturday, he held meetings with several political parties at the Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka. The UN Secretary-General is scheduled to depart Dhaka on Sunday morning.
