Dhaka, January 1, 2025: The year 2025 promises to be a significant one for Bangladesh cricket, with both the men’s and women’s teams facing a packed schedule filled with high-stakes tournaments and bilateral series. The focus will be on various formats, with an emphasis on One-Day Internationals (ODIs). Major tournaments like the ICC Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup are expected to capture the attention of cricket enthusiasts nationwide.
The Bangladesh men’s team begins the year with a crucial ICC Champions Trophy campaign in February and March, aiming to make a mark on the international stage with strong performances. Following this, in March, the Tigers will tour Zimbabwe for a series of three ODIs and three T20 matches.
In May, the team is scheduled to visit Pakistan for another bilateral series comprising three ODIs and three T20s. June will see the team traveling to Sri Lanka, where they will face the hosts in two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20 matches.
August brings India to Bangladesh for a much-anticipated bilateral series featuring three ODIs and three T20s. The Asia Cup, a key regional tournament, is slated for September, though the venue is yet to be finalized. In October and November, the West Indies will tour Bangladesh for a series that includes three ODIs and three T20 matches. The year ends with a home series against Ireland in November, featuring three ODIs, three T20s, and possibly two Tests.
The women’s team also has a packed itinerary, starting with a tour of the West Indies in January. During this tour, the team will compete in three ODIs and three T20 matches. In August and September, the women’s team aims to qualify for the Women’s ODI World Cup in India, which will be a significant milestone. The year concludes with a December tour to India for another bilateral series of three ODIs and three T20s.
In addition to the confirmed schedules, there remains potential for additional series based on bilateral agreements and emerging opportunities. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is working to create new avenues for the teams to grow and compete.
For the men’s team, the ICC Champions Trophy provides an opportunity to bolster confidence through strong performances on a global stage. The abundance of ODIs throughout the year serves as a crucial preparation for upcoming World Cup events.
