The Bangladesh women's national football team, fresh from their triumph in the SAFF Championship, is set to face the United Arab Emirates in two friendly matches scheduled for February and March. After celebrating their championship win, players including Rituparna and Maria have returned to training camp, as confirmed by Mahfuza Akhtar Kiran, the chairperson of the women's wing of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).The matches against the UAE mark Bangladesh's return to international play after a four-month hiatus. Kiran stated that the UAE has agreed to play two friendly matches, although the specific dates are yet to be finalized. The first match is expected to take place at the end of February, followed by the second match in early March, both hosted in the UAE.On October 30, 2024, Bangladesh secured their second consecutive SAFF Championship title by defeating Nepal 2-1 at Dasarath Stadium in Kathmandu. The team’s coach, Peter James Butler, faced delays in formalizing his contract, which contributed to a slower return to training for the players. However, a new agreement was reached with Butler earlier this month, allowing the camp to commence.Training sessions are anticipated to begin at the end of this month once Butler returns from his break. The team aims to build on their recent successes and prepare for the upcoming challenges against the UAE.
