The Bangladesh women's football team, fresh off their second consecutive SAFF Championship title in Nepal, is set to receive a BDT 10 million reward from the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA). The announcement was made during the first meeting chaired by the newly elected BOA president, General Waqar Uz Zaman, on Saturday (November 16) at the BOA headquarters.

Following the meeting, BOA Vice President and Media Committee Chairman Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Mamun said, “The Bangladesh Olympic Association and the Army will jointly honor the women’s football team for their remarkable achievement. A grand reception will be organized in Cox’s Bazar, with our president personally overseeing the event.”

The BOA's announcement adds to the growing list of accolades for the champions. Earlier, the Ministry of Sports awarded BDT 10 million to the team. South East Bank also held a reception in their honor, while the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) announced a BDT 15 million bonus, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) pledged BDT 2 million.

Notably, this isn’t the first time such recognition has been extended to the team. After their 2022 SAFF triumph, the Bangladesh Army had also provided financial rewards. With the Army Chief now serving as the BOA president, this year’s reception and reward come as a joint effort between the two entities.

The celebrations in Cox’s Bazar are expected to highlight the team's extraordinary success and inspire continued excellence in women’s football in Bangladesh.
