Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, emphasized the importance of always keeping the army personnel prepared for battle in order to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty. He made these remarks during his address at the ‘Manoeuvre Exercise 2024/25’ organized by the 55th Infantry Division at Rajbari Military Training Area on Sunday afternoon. The exercise involved a brigade group from the infantry.
Dr. Yunus stated that the Bangladesh Army is a source of pride and trust for the nation. He urged the army to continuously strive for the motto "training is the ultimate welfare," inspiring military personnel to acquire operational proficiency through modern and relevant training. This, he stressed, would ensure that soldiers remain always prepared to protect the nation’s sovereignty.
The Chief Advisor pointed out that soldiers must gain operational skills, courage, and professionalism through realistic training, enabling them to be fully ready for any military engagement. He expressed confidence that the Bangladesh Army would continue to advance toward these objectives with determination and purpose.
Upon his arrival at the exercise site, Dr. Yunus was warmly welcomed by the Chief of Army Staff, General Waker-uz-Zaman, the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral M. Nazmul Hasan, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, and the General Officer Commanding of the 55th Infantry Division, Major General J.M. Imdadul Islam, who is also the Area Commander of the Jessore region.
The one-hour exercise featured a variety of modern military equipment, including tanks, armored personnel carriers (APCs), artillery guns, infantry units, engineers, and commandos, all working together to create a realistic combat environment. The exercise also included participation from the Bangladesh Air Force’s fighter jets, Army Aviation’s aircraft, and helicopters.
At the conclusion of the exercise, Dr. Yunus began his closing remarks by expressing gratitude to the Almighty for the successful conduct of the exercise. He praised the soldiers for their outstanding performance and commended their high level of training and professionalism.
