In a significant development, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Islamic Andolon Bangladesh have reached a consensus on ten key issues following a meeting at the Islamic Andolon Bangladesh's central office in Paltan on Monday afternoon. BNP Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, after a one-and-a-half-hour discussion, revealed the areas where both parties have agreed.

The key points of agreement include:

  1. Both parties are committed to creating a sovereign, independent state free from imperialism, expansionism, and colonialism, with a focus on building national unity.

  2. There is a joint resolve to swiftly bring corrupt individuals, terrorists, murderers, and money launderers to justice with exemplary punishment.

  3. Both parties have committed to safeguarding voting rights and all human rights, aiming to build a broad national consensus on this issue.

  4. A mutual agreement to expedite necessary reforms and organize fair and acceptable elections in a timely manner has been reached.

  5. Both parties have vowed to curb the rising cost of living and establish the rights of marginalized people while restoring law and order in the country.

  6. The parties agreed to work together to oppose the fascist policies of the ruling Awami League and rebuild the country collectively.

  7. Both sides committed to refraining from verbal attacks against each other, instead uniting in opposition to the ruling party's policies.

  9. Both parties pledged not to make decisions contrary to Islamic Sharia and to refrain from supporting any anti-Islamic rhetoric.

  10. Finally, there was an agreement to remove remaining allies of the Awami League's fascist policies from administrative positions.
