The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has urged its leaders and activists to avoid extravagance and organize simple Iftar and prayer gatherings during the holy month of Ramadan. In a notice issued on Monday, signed by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the party outlined specific guidelines for its members to follow.
The notice emphasized the importance of humility and community engagement during Ramadan. Key directives include:
Modest Celebrations: Leaders at all levels, from grassroots to national, are instructed to organize Iftar and prayer gatherings in a simple and unostentatious manner, avoiding unnecessary expenses.
Local-Level Events: Iftar and prayer meetings should be arranged in open spaces near mosques or markets across the country, including in Dhaka North and South City.
Community Involvement: A significant number of ordinary citizens should be invited to participate in these events to foster inclusivity and solidarity.
Minimal Branding: Banners for the events should only display the words "Iftar and Prayer Gathering," avoiding any additional party propaganda.
Timely Completion: All Iftar and prayer programs must be concluded by the 20th day of Ramadan.
The BNP's call for simplicity reflects its focus on connecting with the public and promoting a spirit of humility during the sacred month. The party aims to use these gatherings as an opportunity to strengthen community ties and demonstrate solidarity with the people.
