Rafiqul Alam Majnu, the convener of BNP’s Dhaka Metropolitan South unit, stated that in the last 18 years, the unelected government has devastated all institutions in the country. The economy has suffered due to rampant corruption and looting. To overcome this crisis, Tarique Rahman has introduced a 31-point reform agenda, which aims to fulfill the aspirations of the Bangladeshi people.
He made these remarks while presiding over a workshop titled “Public Engagement and Tarique Rahman’s 31-Point Reform Plan for National Reconstruction,” organized by the Kalabagan unit of BNP at the Green Road Government Staff Quarter field on Sunday afternoon.
Majnu emphasized that BNP has suffered the most during the last 18 years of political movements. He remarked that some individuals deny this suffering in an attempt to elevate themselves. However, he asserted that if the 31 points are fully implemented, Bangladesh will undoubtedly transform into an equitable and exploitation-free nation.
The event was moderated by Tanvir Ahmed Robin, the member secretary of BNP’s Dhaka Metropolitan South unit. The 31-point reform plan was presented and analyzed by BNP’s International Affairs Secretary Barrister Nasir Uddin Asim, central leader Sheikh Rabiul Alam Rabi, and International Affairs Committee member Engineer Ishraq Hossain.
Several prominent BNP leaders and activists attended the workshop, including city BNP Joint Conveners Harunur Rashid Harun, ANM Saiful Islam, Abdus Sattar, SK Sikandar Kadir, and Mojibur Rahman Mozu, along with other BNP leaders and affiliated organization representatives.
Barrister Nasir Uddin Asim highlighted that BNP has been engaged in political movements for the last 17 years, not out of fear of intimidation. He criticized a certain group for believing their exiled leader would return suddenly, asserting that BNP would instead use Interpol to bring her back if necessary.
Engineer Ishraq Hossain stated that BNP has never relied on anyone’s mercy to conduct its politics. The party has always been self-reliant and has maintained its political identity through its own efforts. He stressed that BNP has actively supported student-led movements and has taken necessary political actions for a successful mass uprising. However, he warned against those who seek to claim undue credit for these movements.
Central leader Sheikh Rabiul Alam Rabi stressed the necessity of ensuring two fundamental elements for an effective Bangladesh—protecting people’s rights and maintaining functional institutions.
Tanvir Ahmed Robin reiterated that BNP does not practice politics through submission to any authority. Instead, the party operates with the support of the people of Bangladesh and will not tolerate any actions that go against the nation’s interests.
