A student of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) was found dead under mysterious circumstances after being found hanging in his dormitory room. The incident occurred on the night of January 10th at 11 PM, at the ninth floor of the Ebela dormitory in the city of Rajshahi.

The deceased student was identified as Mehedi Hasan Muhib, a 2018-19 batch student of the Urban and Regional Planning (URP) department of RUET. He was originally from Rangpur.

Rafiul Hasan, a fellow student of Muhib, shared his shock and grief over the incident, describing the deceased as a cheerful and optimistic person. Rafiul explained that both he and Muhib had attended the same school in their hometown and had been members of the same district association at RUET. “He was very happy and lively. We are all in shock about why he took this drastic step. We don’t know the reason behind his suicide,” Rafiul said. He went on to mention that he learned about the incident through friends and visited the scene of the tragedy, where he saw Muhib's body. Police, faculty members, and forensic experts were also present at the location.

Moez Ahmed Masood, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Boalia Model Police Station in Rajshahi, confirmed the incident and mentioned that it is believed to be a case of suicide. However, the exact reasons behind Muhib's death are still unclear. The police recovered the body and have sent it to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue. The family of the deceased has been notified, and legal procedures will be carried out based on the family's decisions.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic death of this young student, while friends and fellow students at RUET are left in mourning, trying to understand the cause of his untimely demise.
