Bangladesh to Present Climate Concerns and Initiatives at Baku Summit

The Interim Government’s Chief Advisor, Nobel Laureate and economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus, is set to depart for Baku, Azerbaijan, on Monday, November 11, to attend the COP-29 Climate Summit. This was reported by the Bangladesh News Agency (BSS) on Sunday, November 10.

According to an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the COP-29 summit is scheduled to be held from November 11 to 22, with Dr. Yunus expected to remain in Azerbaijan on a state visit from November 11 to 14. Bangladesh, recognized as one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change, will present its perspectives and demands at the summit, underscoring its leadership role in climate adaptation and advocacy for developing nations.

Diplomatic sources further indicated that, in addition to attending the climate sessions, Dr. Yunus will engage in bilateral meetings with heads of state and government representatives from various countries. This visit to Azerbaijan follows his previous international trip to New York for the 79th UN General Assembly in September, marking his second foreign mission since the interim government took office on August 8 after the ousting of Sheikh Hasina's administration on August 5 by public demand.
