A violent clash between students of City College and Ideal College erupted at the Science Lab intersection in Dhaka on Sunday, February 9, leaving three students injured. The cause of the altercation remains unclear at this time.
The incident, which began around 4:30 PM, resulted in a halt to traffic, creating severe congestion in the area.
According to students of Ideal College, three of their classmates were attacked and stabbed by students from City College. The injured students, all from the 11th grade, were immediately taken to Lab Aid Hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses reported that the entire area was filled with panic around 4:30 PM as the violence broke out. Traffic on Mirpur Road came to a standstill due to the ongoing conflict. Local police arrived on the scene early, attempting to control the situation, and later additional forces from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) were deployed to calm the situation. As of now, the situation is under control, with both groups retreating from the street.
DMP’s Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of the Ramna Division, Jisanul Haque, confirmed that the situation has returned to normal, and investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the clash.
