Mymensingh, December 29: Rail communication between Dhaka and Mymensingh came to a halt on Sunday afternoon after the engine of the Mohua Commuter Train broke down near the Dhala station in Trishal upazila. The incident occurred around 1:15 PM at the outer area of Dhala Railway Station.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Arij Shikdar of the Gafargaon Railway Police Outpost confirmed the incident. He stated that the Mohua Commuter Train, en route to Mohanganj from Dhaka, encountered a mechanical failure in its engine at the Dhala station’s outer zone. The breakdown caused a complete suspension of train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route.
To address the issue, ASI Shikdar said the engine of the Dhaka-bound Agnibina Express would be used temporarily to move the Mohua Commuter Train to Dhala station to clear the tracks. Once the relief engine arrives, the Mohua Commuter Train will resume its journey towards Mymensingh.
Authorities are optimistic that train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route will be restored by late afternoon, minimizing inconvenience for passengers and ensuring regular operations soon after the disruption.
