The government has extended the deadline for submitting annual income tax returns by one month for individual and corporate taxpayers. The announcement was made on Sunday evening, December 24, through a notification issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
According to the notification, the previous deadline for filing income tax returns for all taxpayers except companies, as per the Income Tax Act 2023, was set for December 31, 2024, for the 2024-2025 tax year. With this extension, individual taxpayers now have until January 31, 2025, to submit their returns both online and offline without incurring any penalties.
Earlier, the NBR had issued a notice stating that December 31 would be the final date for taxpayers to file their returns. This latest extension provides additional time for taxpayers to fulfill their obligations and ensures a smoother process for return submissions.
