The demolition of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s house at Dhanmondi 32 has made headlines beyond the national media, garnering attention from international press. Major global news agencies such as the BBC, Reuters, The Guardian from the UK; Anadolu Agency and TRT World from Turkey; Arab News from Saudi Arabia; CNN, ABC News, and AP from the United States have all reported on the event.

Reuters published a report titled, ‘Protesters Demolish Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Ancestral Home in Bangladesh.’ The report stated that the ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had urged her supporters to resist the interim government through a fiery speech on social media, which allegedly led to the attack.

The British news agency BBC headlined its report, ‘Protesters Set Fire to Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister’s Family Home.’ The report noted that not only Sheikh Hasina but also several of her family members and political allies had their houses set on fire.

The Associated Press (AP) in the United States published a report titled, ‘Bangladeshi Protesters Wreak Havoc at Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Home.’ The report claimed that the attack was sparked by a speech Hasina delivered to her supporters while in exile in neighboring India. It also stated that Hasina fled to India on August 5 last year amid a student-led rebellion against her 15-year rule.

Turkey’s Anadolu Agency titled its coverage, ‘Live Speech from India by Former PM Sheikh Hasina Triggers Protests in Bangladesh.’ Citing anti-discrimination student movement leaders, the report mentioned that existing political parties had ‘failed to meet the expectations of the people.’

Saudi Arabia’s Arab News headlined its report, ‘Bangladeshi Protesters Vandalize and Ransack House Linked to Exiled Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.’

Indian media outlet Hindustan Times also covered the incident with the headline, ‘Crowd Sets Fire to Bangladesh Founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s House in Dhaka.’ The report detailed the attack on Dhanmondi 32 and its aftermath.

Additionally, various Pakistani and Indian news organizations, along with other international media, have extensively covered the event.
