Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic has sent shockwaves through the sporting world with explosive allegations about his treatment during the 2022 Australian Open. The 24-time Grand Slam champion claims he was poisoned while quarantined in a Melbourne hotel, following his refusal to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

Djokovic, who was barred from competing in the tournament due to his vaccination status, was placed in quarantine before being deported from Australia. During this period, he alleges that his meals were tampered with, leading to severe health complications. In his words, “At that time, I experienced some health issues. I later realized that the food I was given at the Melbourne hotel had been poisoned. That was the sole reason for my illness.”

The tennis star stated that upon returning to Serbia, he underwent health examinations, which revealed elevated levels of lead and mercury in his system. Reflecting on the discovery, Djokovic said, “After returning to Serbia, I found some concerning things. Although I’ve never publicly spoken about it, the tests showed high levels of metals, specifically lead and mercury.”

When asked whether he truly believes the food poisoning was deliberate, Djokovic replied, “It’s the only explanation.”

The 2022 Australian Open controversy marked a tumultuous chapter in Djokovic’s career. Following his refusal to adhere to Australia’s vaccination requirements, his visa was canceled, and he was deported before the tournament began. Although he returned to compete in the following year’s event, claiming his 10th Australian Open title, the incident left a lasting impression.

Djokovic admitted that the experience continues to affect him. “Every time I’ve returned to Australia and gone through immigration since then, the memories of 2022 come flooding back. I still feel uneasy during the immigration process,” he said.

While Djokovic’s allegations are yet to be independently verified, his remarks have sparked widespread debate. The tennis legend’s claims add another layer of intrigue to an already controversial episode in his illustrious career.
