The Dhaka University (DU) unit of Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), paid homage to Amanullah Mohammad Asaduzzaman, a martyr of the historic 1969 mass uprising.
On Monday, January 20, members of the organization laid wreaths at the Shaheed Asad Memorial near the outpatient department of Dhaka Medical College to honor his memory.
During the tribute, DU Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas stated that Shaheed Asad’s supreme sacrifice in the movement against the authoritarian regime of Pakistan's Ayub Khan remains an enduring source of inspiration for freedom-loving and democratic people of this land. He added that Asad's fearless spirit continues to serve as a beacon of hope for resistance against oppression, including the ongoing struggle against what he described as the fascist rule of Sheikh Hasina. Ganesh Chandra further emphasized that Asad's ideals inspire them in their fight for a fascist-free Bangladesh.
The event was attended by key leaders of DU Chhatra Dal, including its President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, Senior Joint General Secretary Md. Nasir Uddin Shawon, and other leaders from the university and its affiliated halls.
