EC Transfers 62 Officials Across Various Levels

The Election Commission (EC) has transferred and reassigned 62 officials across various levels, from Dhaka Regional Election Officers to Upazila Election Officers. The reshuffle was executed through separate gazette notifications and office orders, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Mohammad Shahidur Rahman on Wednesday night, January 1.

According to the notifications, Sylhet Regional Election Officer Md. Abdul Halim Khan has been reassigned as Director (Operations) of the National Identity (NID) section. Dhaka Regional Election Officer Md. Faridul Islam has been transferred to the Election Commission Secretariat as Deputy Secretary. Chattogram Regional Election Officer Md. Yunus Ali has been reassigned as Dhaka Regional Election Officer, while Mymensingh Regional Election Officer Mohammad Belayet Hossain Chowdhury has taken over the role of Chattogram Regional Election Officer.

In another transfer, the Deputy Secretary of the Election Management Department at the Secretariat, Md. Atiar Rahman, has been appointed as Director of the Election Training Institute (ETI). Faridpur Regional Election Officer Md. Saiful Islam has been posted as Deputy Secretary at the Secretariat, and Barishal Regional Election Officer Md. Alauddin has been reassigned to Faridpur as Regional Election Officer. Additionally, the Secretariat’s Deputy Secretary Rashedul Islam has been transferred to the Election Management-1 Subdivision as Deputy Secretary.

Senior District Election Officer of Rangamati Mohammad Nurul Alam has been posted as Sylhet Regional Election Officer. Similarly, the Senior District Election Officer of Rajshahi, Md. Shahinur Islam Pramanik, has been assigned as Mymensingh Regional Election Officer. Meanwhile, Senior District Election Officer of Jashore, Md. Anisur Rahman, has been transferred to Barishal as Regional Election Officer. These three officials have been given interim responsibilities alongside their current roles.

The EC’s reshuffle also includes the transfer of 17 officials to the Secretariat and as District or Senior District Election Officers through separate notifications. In another gazette, 16 officials have been reassigned to positions such as Senior Assistant Secretary, Additional Regional Election Officer, and District Election Officer in various regions.

Additionally, Abul Kashem Mohammad Mazharul Islam, Assistant Director of the ETI, has been promoted to Deputy Director within the institute. Another gazette outlined the transfer of eight officials, while yet another notification detailed the reassignment of nine more officers.

The Election Commission has emphasized that these adjustments aim to streamline operations and strengthen administrative efficiency across all levels of its organizational structure.
